Aloha friends and thank you so much for taking the time and interest to follow my true passion in life - cooking! :) Through this page, I will share all of my favorites in the kitchen - from my personal techniques to my preparation to my love of trying new ideas. Nothing that comes from your heart can be a mistake so don't be afraid to try new things.
I hail from the Philippines so I am naturally more well versed in Asian cuisine. But I love to try all things and take pride in being versatile. Now living in the Hawaiian Islands, I have taken on many of the local ways and that means new food! While I do not YET call myself a chef, I smile every time my family calls me Chef Inka!
My first interest in the culinary arts was simply mimicking the every move of my nanay (mother) as a kid growing up in the slower provincial life. We ate what we grew and raised in our own yards - truly fresh to the table. As my passion for food grew, I decided to seek formal training while living in the bustling city of Manila. Our food is super unique! During this time that I was attending school, I was able to start up my own catering business out of my kitchen. Lots of work and lots of my fun! I discovered how to produce my specialties for my friends and colleagues on a larger scale. Learning the business side as well, because we all need to stay in business to be able to share our foods with you! ;)
The next chapter of my life has brought me to beautiful Hawai'i. The island of Kaua'i to be exact. This is where I begin my personal quest for happiness through food. Hope you enjoy the ride! :)
